Nisar Momin

Nisar Momin is an Assistant Professor at Anant National University. Nisar Momin pursued his postgraduation in Visual Arts from M.S University and Fine Arts from the Cambridge School of Art at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, United Kingdom. An expert in sculptures, Nisar gives equal importance to both, the linear tradition of craftsmanship and purely modernist ideas, and is continuously researching the exchange between both matters in his works. The experience of ‘making’ with materials and the independent discourse that particular artwork or product assumes after its creation fascinates Nisar. He believes that this process reveals dynamic learning about material and concept, which encourages him to experiment more and share with his students.

Introduction to the Workshop:

– Why do we have toys?

– What is a toy to a child?

– How toys from different civilizations help us to understand society?

After discussing the above questions we will research toys from the past, understand forms, materials used and its significance.

After this study each participant will recreate, reform one work in papier mache. From this study we will go back in memory lane to answer:

– What is my favorite toy? Why is it my favorite?

After studying it, we will create a toy as a response to My Memory Lane –

We will build this form in a papier Mache, use color on it and understand intangible to tangible experience.
